These Notes are based on extracts from the book "From Clancy's Day to Mine" by Norman Macnamara and also from "The Bulloo River Story" by Char Speedy.
Born in NSW in 1882 Ilus Macnamara was taken into Queensland by his parents in February 1888. Also with that family were sisters Lilly ,born1884, and Kate born 1886. They settled at Eulo, then later took up a selection called Cameroo, a few
miles above Eulo.
Ilus Macnamara left home in 1898 and went shearing. He then took a job as head stockman on Davenport Downs, on the Diamantina River, which was owned by Cobb & Co. This lead to him taking on all the droving for Cobb & Co, which owned several
stations in the area. The book then recounts several of the trips Ilus undertook during his years of droving for Cobb & Co and on some occasions for Sidney Kidman.
