Note: One of the provisions of the Will of William Green 1, signed in 1816 and administered in 1822, was that if his widow Harriet remarried or died and if his four children [William, Harriet, John and Charles Henry] died before reaching the age of
21 years, the Estate was to pass on to William Green 1s sister Maria Green.
Finding a brother/sister link for William Green 1 and Maria Green has been unsuccessful. Year of birth and age at death in 1822 of William Green 1 are unknown as are his parents' names.
For Maria -
--a Maria Green was baptised at St Martins in the Field, Westminster, on 28 December 1796, parents Charles Green and Maria. Birth of a William Green to the same parents has not been found, nor has record of marriage of Charles and Maria.
--a Maria Green married William Pearl on 2 August 1818 at Westminster, St Martins [Maria would have been aged about 21 years then]
-- 1841 Census shows Maria Pearl, aged 43 years, born about 1798 at Surrey, St Marys-Newington.
--1851 Census shows Maria Pearl, aged 54 years, born about 1797 at Middlesex, St Martins.
--1861 Census shows Maria Pearl, aged 64 years, born about 1797 at Westminster, St Marys-Newington.
--a Maria Pearl died in 1878, aged 82 years, born about 1796.
Whether this Maria Green/Pearl was a sister of William Green 1 remains unresolved.
There is a theory that it was common practice in the "old days" to give children their parents' names. Perhaps this was adopted by the Pearls - first daughter named Maria after her mother, first son named William after his father. Why Caroline
was chosen as the name for the second daughter is not apparent. Was the second son Charles named after who has been assumed above to have been Maria's father? However, applying this theory to the Greens, perhaps the father of William and Maria
was William and their mother's name is Unknown.

Note: Information concerning the Pearl family has been obtained from searching Ancestry.com.
For the Pearl family of five - William, Maria, daughters Maria and Caroline, sons William and Charles - the 1841 Census shows Civil Parish and Registration District - Newington St Mary, Sub-Registration District - St Peters Walworth,
Borough Lambeth.
1851 Census shows only son Charles as living with his parents at Beresford Street, Newington. 1861 Census shows only the parents, William and Maria, plus a servant Mary Towel aged 16 years and born in Exeter, living at Beresford Street.
William Pearl's occupation is recorded as Brush Maker in all three Censuses. 1851 Census shows son Charles as having taken the same occupation.
William Pearl died in the September Quarter of 1866 at age 73 years at Newington District, London.
Daughter Caroline Amelia Pearl died in the June Quarter of 1845 at age 24 years [unmarried] at Newington District, London.
Maria Pearl [nee Green] died in the December Quarter of 1878 at age 82 years at St Saviour Southwark District, London.
It is noted that the Pearls' first born daughter was named Maria after her mother and the first born son was named William after his father. Perhaps William Pearl's father's name was William?
